FreeStyle Libre 3

A Libre 3 dashboard that sits next to your meals, weight and training

The Libre app shows glucose well, but it does not know what you ate, how you trained or what the scale said. MetaBraid brings your Libre 3 readings into the same account as your meal log, weight and Strava sessions, so you can look back over a week and ask what changed.

MetaBraid is a personal log. The Libre connection is for personal use only and not for treatment decisions. MetaBraid is not affiliated with Abbott.

What you can see

  • Your latest glucose reading on the Today screen, next to weight and body fat.
  • A table of recent readings with time, mg/dL, mmol/L and the trend arrow.
  • Your meals in the same account. Each meal has a logged time and calorie, protein, carb and fat estimates, so you can line a meal up with the readings that followed.
  • Weight and training alongside. Weight from Withings and calories burned from Strava sit in the same dashboard.

How to connect Libre 3 to MetaBraid

  1. In the FreeStyle Libre app, share your data through LibreLinkUp and invite a second email address as a follower.
  2. Accept the invitation in LibreLinkUp using that second email.
  3. In MetaBraid, open the Libre page and enter the follower email, password and your region. An optional patient ID is available if you share with more than one person.
  4. Press Sync now. MetaBraid shows when it last synced and how many readings it stored.

Why look at glucose beside food?

A single reading tells you little. Patterns over a week tell you more, such as how similar meals compare or how a walk after dinner lines up with the evening. Read our guide on what moved your glucose and weight for a simple method.

Limits you should know about

  • The connection uses Abbott's LibreLinkUp sharing service, which is unofficial for third-party apps and may change or stop working.
  • Readings can be delayed and are shown for personal review only. They are not for treatment decisions.
  • MetaBraid does not diagnose or give medical advice. Talk to your care team about glucose targets.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How does MetaBraid get my Libre 3 readings?

You connect through LibreLinkUp, the sharing feature of the FreeStyle Libre app. MetaBraid signs in with a LibreLinkUp follower account and polls the sharing service for new readings.

Do I need a second email address?

Yes. LibreLinkUp works by inviting a follower, so you use a second email address for the follower account and enter those follower details in MetaBraid.

Can I use MetaBraid to make treatment decisions?

No. The connection uses an unofficial sharing service and is for personal use only, not for treatment decisions such as insulin dosing. Always use your Libre reader or app and your care team for medical decisions.

Is MetaBraid affiliated with Abbott?

No. MetaBraid is not affiliated with Abbott. FreeStyle Libre and LibreLinkUp are Abbott products and trademarks.

Do I need a Libre sensor to use MetaBraid?

No. Glucose is optional. You can log meals, weight and training without it and add Libre readings later.
